It is suitable for measuring powders with uniform size distribution (narrow size distribution) and small volume particles in liquid suspension.
The Coulter particle counter uses the electric induction zone method (also known as the Coulter principle) to measure particle size. As shown in the figure, immerse the aperture tube in the electrolyte. There are two electrodes separated by a pore tube, and current flows between the electrodes. During the measurement, the particles will be suspended in a weak electrolyte solution. When the particles pass through the pores, they will move their electrolyte volume, thereby instantly increasing the resistance of the pore. This change in resistance generates a pulse, which is digitally processed in real time. Analyzing these pulses can obtain the size distribution and display it in volume and diameter.
