Technical Specification

Complete technical data, dimensions, capacity and performance parameters for Astra Scientific Rockwell Hardness Tester (Manual).

The Rockwell test method, as defined in ISO 6508 & ASTM E-18, is the most commonly used method to determine a material's hardness and is suitable for almost all metals and to some degree for plastics. It measures the permanent depth of indentation produced by a force/load on an indenter. The Rockwell test is generally easier to perform, and quicker than other types of hardness testing methods. The main advantage of Rockwell hardness testing is its speed of testing and its ability to display hardness values directly after penetrating the material.
The Rockwell hardness is determined by the application of a preliminary test force (minor load or preload), followed by an additional load (major load) to reach the total required test load. The minor load provides the zero or reference position. The major load is applied and held for a predetermined amount of time (dwell time) to allow for elastic recovery. Then the major load is removed, while still maintaining the minor load.
FEATURES:
•    The machine body if formed by cast iron, single & stable structure.
•    The dial display the hardness value directly, sensitive indicator, highly accurate values.
•    Just rotating the loading wheel, the three loading test forces to choose the hardness unit can be adjusted.
•    In model RHTR-301 there is no need to use the electric power; these can be used in different conditions.
•    It is economical and practical superficial Rockwell hardness tester.
